Seasonal Wellness: Preparing Your Body for Spring in East Texas

Healthy Living

March in Montgomery means one thing around here: everybody starts asking about allergies. The pollen count goes up and suddenly half the town is sniffling. But spring is also a great time to shake off the winter sluggishness and get your body feeling good again. Here is what I have been recommending to customers this time of year.

Give Your Liver a Hand

We spring clean our houses. Makes sense to help our bodies reset too. After a winter of heavier meals and less movement, your liver could use some support — it is the organ doing the actual detoxifying, not whatever juice cleanse is trending on Instagram.

Milk thistle is the classic liver herb and there is solid research behind it. Our Liver Detox Complex pairs it with complementary botanicals. But even simpler than that: start your morning with warm water and half a lemon, before coffee. Not a cure-all, but it gets things moving. I have been doing this myself for years.

Get Ahead of Allergy Season

East Texas allergies are brutal. If you wait until you are already miserable to start doing something about it, you are behind. Quercetin — found in apples, onions, and supplement form — acts as a natural antihistamine. The key is starting it two to three weeks before your symptoms typically kick in.

Our Breathe Easy formula was one of my picks specifically for respiratory support during pollen season. I have customers who will not go without it from March through May. A retired teacher who comes in regularly told me it changed her spring from "surviving to enjoying." Her words, not mine.

Get Outside While You Can

One of the best things about Montgomery in spring is actually wanting to be outdoors again. Walking the trails at W. Goodrich Jones State Forest, working in the yard, even just sitting on the porch — that does more for you than most supplements. Sunlight makes vitamin D. Fresh air lifts your mood. Movement keeps everything working.

If you have been sitting all winter, start small. Twenty minutes, three times a week. And if your knees remind you that you are not 25 anymore, turmeric with BioPerine helps. That is my go-to for joint support. I take it myself.

Keep It Simple

Drink more water. Eat more plants. Get outside. Support your liver. Get ahead of allergies. Move your body. That really is the whole plan.
